2020 In Review: As a Faith-Based / Faithful Entrepreneur

As a faith-based entrepreneur, I like to spend some time at the end of each year doing an audit of my business, looking at what went well, what could be improved and what I want to incorporate in the future. Of course, last year was unlike any other, and one thing that I did a lot of 2020 was praying. And I mean a lot!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” Proverbs 3:5-6

When I really dug in and took the time to reflect on everything, I think one of the most important lessons I learned was:

How to pivot in faith. What can you offer that makes sense right now? Be creative, think outside the box, and most importantly ask the Lord to show you your next step.

2020 was so interesting and very confusing for me as an entrepreneur. I was fortunate that my business operated predominately online already but it seemed like every time we figured something out, something else came up, and we were forced to review again (pivot!).

I will say that it was a pleasure to watch my friends and clients pivot like the clever women they are. Truly. In fact, most of my clients GREW their businesses in 2020, and one even hit 1 million dollars in revenue for the first time.

So, it was wild to see such a contrast between how fearful the world around me seems with what I was personally experiencing (and I’m NOT saying people weren’t out of work, I’m well aware that lots of real people were suffering real hardship). It definitely made me want to teach more about online business (through the lens of Christ) so that there are ways for people to diversify their income in a pinch.

I always come back to this:

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

If you were forced to pivot your business last year, I would love to know in the comments what you did to adapt to the ever-changing climate. If you want to learn more about how I operate as an entrepreneur make sure to check out this post here.
